Here are a couple of helpful rules and tips from our Founder, Peter Waite, for all forum members.  One was recently updated.   Please review.

Just click on the links below to review:

New Rule: No Excessively Long Signatures (Updated 12/18/2007) - I think we're given some extra room here due to the nature of our forum, but this is a good review from Mr. Waite nonetheless

In addition, you'll want to watch out for posting your personal e-mail addresses.  Doing so exposes you to folks who send spam where they can easily find you via Internet searches on our posts using something like google or yahoo search.

A better practice is to either temporarily or permanently modify your profile to include an e-mail address which can be accessed to the left of your posts in the icon box under your forum name.   An e-mail address in your profile cannot be accessed by an Internet search.  Your can turn the e-mail address link in your profile off or on at will.

All the best to our great forum members!

Barry

Thanks for the reminders, Barry. I've always listed my email address in my profile so that individual forum members could contact me personally. I take it that is still ok and won't trigger any more spam than I already get.

Hi Tim,

You are correct.  Setting your e-mail address in your profile is the safest method and cannot be hacked by a normal web search.

Best regards,

Barry
