Hi, I am trying to figure out some things.  I just came off a 2 week detox diet that excluded grains.  I felt alot better eating just fruits, veggies, and rice.  I have alot of the symptoms of Celiac's, but not the weight loss.  I have gained 20+ pounds over the last 2 years due to menopause.  As soon as I started eating regular again I noticed that my congestion came back along with the bloating and belching and constipation.  Can you have Celiac's without the weight loss?  Thanks, KO

Yes, it is possible. In fact, sometimes the symptoms of Celiac can be gas, heartburn, constipation, weight gain, etc. instead of the stereotypical diarrhea and weight loss.

I've had Celiac probably most of my life. I was skinny kid, until puberty. After that is when everything went more haywire than it already was. I started gaining weight like crazy. I became gluten free 10 months ago. At the beginning of my switch to GF lifestyle I weighed 340lbs! I seriously almost fainted when the doctor told me that. I've lost 70 pounds now, and I'm not even trying. I eat GF chocolate chip cookies, GF PB&J sandwiches. I keep telling myself, 'just imagine what would happen if you'd lay off the sweets!" LOL So, in answer to the question: YES, it is definitely possible to not have the weight loss. Some I've communicated with are super skinny, others are "normal" weight, and yet some are morbidly obese. You just don't hear of the latter much.

I am 23 years old. I came back from Iraq with a hurt knee and I was doped up, I slept like 20 hours a day, and I gained a lot of weight even though I wasn't eating much, but when I did eat it was those heater up pasta meals and such. I blamed the medicine, but I have been watching what I eat and exercising 3-4 times a week and I haven't lost even 1 pound. Along with my other symptoms: headaches, fatigue, rash on head, constipation/diarrhea, extreme nausea; I feel like I might have celiac's. Any suggestions?
