How is the diet going? I think that there are several levels of allergies pertaining to gluten, or possibly a subsidiary to gluten. Around the time I got diagnosed, I had tiny, watery blisters all over my thumb. They would pop, harden up, and then flake off. It's known that having a Celiac sprue could indeed result with forms of Dermatitis herpetiformis, however it is unclear if there is a link between DH and just an inflamed small intestine. It's also possible to have maybe a different allergy that isn't as all-inclusive as Celiac's, such as a wheat, which could cause similar results when consumed. Just out of curiosity, you hadn't already switched to a gluten-free diet before your GI doctor did testing, right? Because the IgA antibodies that are used to diagnose Celiac's are only present when gluten is still a part of your diet.
