I've been thinking about this for a while, but does Celiac cause bad teeth?
My teeth have always given me trouble ever since I was a kid. I had to get at least 6 fillings and my teeth have never been completely white, more like an off-white color. Growing up my dentists never considered that anything was causing my teeth problems besides eating too much candy and not brushing enough. The thing is that I hardly ate candy as a kid and I brushed my teeth twice a day and I even used flouride rinse.
Now I'm an adult and was diagnosed with Celiac Disease one year ago. I've been on a gluten-free diet for 1 year. I think my teeth have gotten worse! My teeth have these white areas along my gumline and I continually get these small holes in my teeth in these white areas(My dentist said that these white areas are where the enamel is weak). I keep having to get fillings because of these holes(If I counted correctly, I now have 8 fillings!). My dentist is always yelling at me to brush more, floss every day, and to use flouride mouthwash. I do all those things, but it doesn't help! Yes, I have told my dentist that I have Celiac Disease, but I don't think she really knows too much about it.
