Does anyone else have a problem with other foods? I have been gf since December 2013. I was told by my doctor I most likely was a false negative for celiacs but to consider myself intolerant. I know almost immediately when I accidentally get gluten, symptoms last for 3 weeks so I am very careful now. If I didn't make it or can't read the label I won't eat it. But all of the sudden I'm pretty sure eating corn is giving me terrible stomach pain. I am eliminating it to see if that's the cause but wanted to know if anyone else has experienced other intolerances. Thanks for any help or info.

Welcome to the forum, aliroseb.

False negative? That would mean positive, as in you have it. That's opposite of saying just intolerant. What test did you have?

Celiac is also very different from intolerant or allergic. If you have an intolerance you want to know if it's just wheat or all gluten (100 kinds).

As for corn, sure, that's possible. I have all sorts of food intolerances. To find them my allergist had me keep a food journal (see the search box). That was years ago, and at that time plain wheat with no additives was no problem. Next week I go for a wheat challenge test (see search box).

It's possible to acquire new allergies and intolerances and also get rid of them as we age. I'm no longer allergic to cats, good thing since my grandkids' cat came to live with me when they kept her kitten.

Have you looked into the research on FODMAPs? It may be useful for you. I'd also rec an allergist if you have concerns.

Thanks for the info Alcie. They just did a scope, found swelling in duodem, but said it was negtive for celiacs. Told me to go gf. When I returned the PA thought since so many of my problems improved it must have been a false negative. I can't even take ibuorofen or any other pain med for that matter without the same kind of reaction as gluten. Blurred vision, major hip pain, severe cramping, constipation for days, my face breaks out same place everytime. The list goes on as does everyones. I have a real hard time getting any doctors to take this as serious as I know it is. Problems from years before the digestive issues started are mostly gone.If you can't tell I am in a frustrated state right now. I really appreciate you responding, it helps

The kind of inflammation and damage from Celiac in the small intestine is patchy and easily missed if they only take a few biopsies. I think I remember reading an article suggesting it takes an average of 10 biopsies to diagnose Celiac...most GI docs only take 2-3 biopsies...
