Hi I am new here and was just diagnosed with Lyme Disease, I tested positive. I have Celiac Disease, also tested positive by biopsy. My Concern is how and if anyone else on here has both and if so what treatment works best? I only have two foot of small intestine left so I really need to be careful.
Thank you,

its possible that the lyme caused the celiacs disease, unknown mechanism, or it was pre-existing. You must treat your lyme disease first. You will need to go on a gluten free diet for life, make sure the medicines for lyme do not have any gluten in it. according to the lyme forum, there are also possible co-infections with lyme, have you been tested for those. Also cross-contimination of gluten is possible, some products in your house is made of gluten, so becareful. consider using glass or ceramic instead of paper or plastic. or use metal utensils.

I don't have CD but NCGC (Non celiac gluten sensitivity) and late stage lyme. I'm doing an herbal protocol (Cowden) to get rid of the lyme which is much gentler on your gut flora...and it is recommended that you be gluten free on the protocol anyway. I think the gluten sensitivity came first (as it was diagnosed with a genetic test) but I also believe I contracted lyme in utero.
