 Hi every body
I am new to all this meaning thyroid disease and chat rooms, but I need some advice I am 42 and have having a lot of health issues sense I was 35. I was just tested in mid june and my tsh are very low score is 0.005 and my autoantibodies 124% can't seam to lose any weight for the pass year. I asked the doctor to test my thyroid I have two them come back now at 0.005 my doctor as put me on atenolol 25mg on a good night I lucky to get 5 hours of slept, my heart fells like it's on a race, my hands shake and I have itching skin attacks, pins and needles in my hands. I had my left ovary removed 05 and in 08 total hysterectomy so do i have hypo or hyper still not sure the Dr. say it's hyper but I ve been on a 1600 cal diet and still no weight loss only weight gain? he has done a thyroid up take don't know the outcome yet? my t4 are in normal range. He has more test for me take in aug he orded t3,t4,tsh,thyoglobul antibodies and microsomal tpo-ab. My qustions are could the thyroid have been all of my problems with my womb and the fibrocystic breast I went back though med record and the itchingness and hand shakes and irrgeular periods, fibroids and fibrocystic breast have been on going. The heart racing and pins and needles along with other things like hair I can run my fingers though it and end with a quite a bit in my hand I have to clean my bush every day. the other question is could the dr. be wrong about the hyper / hypo and the last question is should the dr. have put me on other meds I feel like my own body is attack me cry

Have you been tested for Lyme disease??? Just asking as symptoms can mimic and so many have undiagnosed Lyme.

My thyroid levels tested OK for years when I suspected I had a problem so nothing was ever done about it After I went to a Lyme literate doctor he retested me for thyroid which showed my antibody levels were high indicating Hashimotos thyroiditis. When you body attacks it's own thyroid. You did say you felt "under attack"!!!!!Most PC doctors do not know the proper tests and levels to test for. You need a GOOD enocrinologist if you don't already have one. My Lyme doctor has been prescribing my meds. My endo did not understand Lyme disease which is a whole other thing.........................Neither did the 32 other doctors I went to for my various symptoms.

Some of my first symptoms of thyroid issues were many: headaches, racing heart, cold feet and hands, low am temperatur, depression and tremors to name a few. Many of those symptoms went away with treatment of armour--a very low dose of 1 grain. The thing that did not go away was the 30 lb. weight gain. The dose was increased now it seems the weight is coming off. 5 lbs since the increase 3 weeks ago- food is not the problem.

Ihope you get some relief soon.

Blessings

I've been reading up on the difference between Hyper and hypo. The book I got said Hyper people feel speeded up. Their heart races, their thoughts are racing, and they feel frantic.
Hypo people feel slowed down. They have brain fog, memory trouble, their reflexes are slowed, and they are depressed.
They both have trouble with weight.

It could be alot of other autoimmune issues as well, and unfortunately when doc's do not know what is wrong they have a tendency to blame the patient and say something to the extent that it is all in your head. Unfortunately this dismissal of symptoms has a tendency to happen more often with women.
How is your crp(c-reactive protein) and your SED rate on your blood work? They are rather vague markers of something going wrong, but can at least point you in the right direction.

IDY, One can get Lyme from Mesquitos, black flys, ticks, spiders, gnats and any other blud sucking things. If you do get tested ask for the test called Western Blot.

As to thyroid Someone on the Lyme forum advised me to get tests that test free T3, free T4. Because I am looking for a new endo she sugested I call a  localcompounding pharmacy and ask the pharmasist if they know of an endo who requests thyroid meds be compounded. That will ensure that the meds given can be somewhat taylored to the individual..  I havent tried that yet.

The way I understand it...Hyperthyroidism means your thyroid is overacting. Hypo means it is underacting.

When I was diagnosed the first time with thyroid disease my doctor said I had a thyroid that tried to correct itself but didnt always work right. He had a name for it but dont remember what it was. Perhaps that is what is happening toyou?

hey every one

I seening a new endo for second opinion he said I have both hyper & hypo and ordered new & more  blood work see him again on aug 13/09 and he put me on h1/h2 blockers so we will see. He seem be a  Dr. who willing to listen to me they went though my med record so it seem like he willing to get to the bottom. The other endo just looked at the test and treated

thanks again ldybug
