Ugh!  I am just soooooo tired.  I've lived "tired" all my life (hmmmm....low thyroid just never caught???), and I hate it when it drags on.  I'm on cytomel and levoxyl, or something like that, to try and get my thyroid up.  Only been on it for under 2 weeks.  I understand it can take a while.  I have two kids, 6 and 7, and I just hate not being able to have energy for them.  I push through it....but sometimes it's tough.

Just wanted to verbally puke tonight.  thx

Hey, welcome to HealingWell. We seem to have quite a colony here of IBDer's with thyroid issues.

I was hyperthyroid, but then became severely hypo after treatment and until my meds got regulated. I remember that feeling of tiredness. I felt like I was walking through water all the time - sometimes it felt more like I was walking through concrete. I also remember feeling like I had cold radiating from my bones.

One complicating factor can be that IBD also causes tiredness and low energy for a lot of us, so we get a double whammy.

Glad to hear you've started treatment and I hope it will help you feel better. Yes, it can take about six weeks for the meds to take effect, and it can take quite a while sometimes to get the dosage fine tuned.

Have you've been checked for Sleep apnea?
People with Hypothyroidism sometimes develops Sleep apnea. I did!
Signs of Sleep apnea:
1. exahaustion
2. falling asleep during TV shows, car rides, or conversations your listening to
3. waking up easy during the night
4. Snoring!

If this is you, talk to your doctor about having a sleep study done.
