Hey everyone,

So I've been on Synthroid for about a week now, had no problems til recently. The past couple of days or so, the bottomish of my neck has been swollen and tight feeling. It feels kinda like somehow is choking me, except it's not really affecting my breathing. This scared me, so I called my doctor. He said that it be from that, but not to worry about it. He says he'll see my at my next appointment, which is in a month.

I know I shouldn't worry about it because he says so, but I can't help it, plus it's really bothering me.

Has anyone had this? Or heard of it? Or anything?

Thanks,
Sarah

I've felt it for over a year, worse lately. I know my levels are off.

Well, I'm glad I'm not going crazy and it's nothing serious. Ended up at another doctor's office today, and he did bloodwork to check my TSH levels. Hopefully I'll have the results tomorrow.

It really annoys me that my reg dr wouldn't do anything abut it.

*sighs*

Thanks!

You are not crazy, my pcp won't go near my synthroid needs, he always refers me back to the endocrinologist. The endo not only bases my dosage on my blood levels, but also on how I am feeling. as my levels don't always reflect my needs. I had a total thyroidectomy 12/09 so must solely rely on the synthroid. Also be sure you stick with the same brand of synthroid as each company adds different fillers that can affect how you metabolize the drug. I am only allowed to use the synthroid brand pills.

I can't get in to see my GP. He only takes appointments for up to a month and then may cancel on you. That's why I'm trying to get into to see an endocrinologist. I've got a standing appointment for mid-August, but I'm on the "we'll call you if someone cancels" list, too.
