Reading most of the posts on here my problems seem small in comparison, but I don't know where else to turn.  This is my first post here.

I've been told my thyroid levels are normal and had an ultrasound 2 years ago that said the isthmus of my thyroid was thickened.  Last year I got sudden pain in both my knees and when they finally did tests 3 months after the pain started there were signs of OA on x-rays and my vitamin D was low.  I was sent to an awful rhuematologist who very rudely told me I am too young (I'm 29) to have OA and my vitamin D level wasn't low enough to give me the pain I was having.  So, I left thinking okay maybe it's in my head.  By the summer the pain had gone all over and had gotten to a point I was having excruciating pain going down stairs, it is the worst in my kness and elbows, but I get it in almost all my joints.  My doctor sent me to a different rhuematologist who is very kind, but can't find my problem.  He was concerned about the size of my thyroid so he sent me in for another ultrasound which showed that my thyroid has grown but there are no masses.  They called and told me this and that there is nothing wrong with me and to wait until my appt. in February to talk to my doctor.  My bloodwork was done last March and was normal, so I'm going to try to have it done again in February.  I have been having a lot of the thyroid symptoms:  tired, feeling a lump in my throat, joint pain, anxiety/depression, feeling cold all the time, and I'm sure there are more that I'm not thinking of.

I guess getting to the point, my question is has anyone gone through anything similar before they were diagnosed with a thyroid problem?  Right now I'm so frustrated because my knees feel like they could explode and they haven't given me any reason yet and now my other symptoms are getting worse and no one is listening.  Thanks in advance to anyone who reads this and can sympathize!

It took going to a different doctor to get mine diagnosed. The first doctor only ran the basic TSH test. He kept saying your normal nothing's wrong with you. I switched doctors and the new one ran the full panel (TSH, T3, T4, Antibodies). He said you definately have Hypothyriodism.

The point is don't settle, you know your body, you know something's wrong. Keep hollering until someone listens.

I am not qualified to give any medical advice. But I would encourage you to not give up. Find someone who can give you the answers to what is wrong.

I have hypothyroidism , there are so many symptoms. fatigue, depression, lack of concentration, low body temp on and on.

Don't give up there is someone out there who can help you. This is a great site for support. I am new also but feel so welcome, I feel I am not alone anymore. I am sure you will get replies from many who know more than I do. You will be in my prayers.

Sounds like me but I was dx with hypothyroid over 10 yrs. ago.
I've been having some problems lately and just went to a Rhym. because my endo and gen just kept sending me for blood work and telling me they don't know what's happening so time for a change.
So I find out that my vit D is low and of course the thyroid is still off.
My joints are killing me. The fog in my brain is super thick, my husband and daughter are really getting tired of me loosing everything. I have all I can do to get out of bed in the morning. If I get some laundry done - and I'm not even including folding it, feed the dog and cat, keep the kitchen clean and make dinner I'm doing good.
Went to be shortly after 6 pm and didn't get up until shortly after 6 am. Still didn't want to get out of bed and of course I didn't get a full nights sleep. Kept waking up with pain and tosing and turning.
Anyway, I agree with the above. You know your body better the anyone, I know there's something more then what I found today. I just have to get this fixed or better before I can find out more.
Keep looking you'll find the right Dr. and you will have answers, it just may take some searching and time. Hang tough.

Thanks so much for the support. I'll keep shouting until someone finally realizes there's something wrong. Telling my husband and having him listen is great, but to find some people who have been there helps a lot. My joints just keep getting worse and the pain meds I'm on aren't helping, I'm going to try to hang tough through the holidays and then I'll get back on the doctor train again. One other thing though, did anyone have any dizzy spell with the thyroid problems? I used to get dizzy all of the time, but haven't since college, now I've been noticing not only the brain fog but dizziness that comes and goes. It's usually really quick, but has almost made me feel like I'm going to pass out. Just curious.
Again, thanks to all for the support and the shoulders to lean on!

Do you have heartburn?
The vegus nerve (connects to balance) is connected to the stomach and when you have heartburn it causes the nerve to become inflamed. When my vegus nerve was affected by gerd I'd get feeling of almost passing out.
