Has anyone experienced sweating, shaking, feelings of anxiety & a blocked nose when needing the toilet? My son has these symptoms but after finishing in the toilet, they temporarily disappear - until he needs to go again. Also, he doesn't get the normal signals that he needs to go to the toilet in the first place.

The reason why we're asking this question is that we wondered whether there might be a link with his cortisol and adrenal gland levels even though the doctors haven't found anything.

Does anyone think this is linked to thyroid or adrenal, or is it a digestive issue?

Thanks.

I have these same problems before I have to go to the restroom, and they disappear after I finish also. These problems have been a constant for me until I was diagnosed w/ addison's disease. Once I started taking steroids regurlarly for the lack of cortisol, the symptoms got better. I think you should have his adrenal functions tested. I hope this helped, and let me know if I can answer any more questions. I am still relatively new with all this, so I will do my best to answer you.

Thanks Eli 38 - very interesting comments.

My son recently visited a specialist in London who thinks he may have POTS (Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome) which includes many of his symptoms beyond those mentioned here.

He's been referred to a Neurology Hospital in London. This is pending but should take place before the end of March.

I'll keep you posted.

Interesting, They tested me for POTS also during the search for a diagnosis. Negative.

yes, please keep me posted. I still think you need to see an endocrinologist and have his adrenal fuction tested.
