I am a 61 year old woman who had my thyroid removed 25+

years ago. I have been on Levothyroxine (88mg) since my surgery. My GP

does a thyroid test once a year and always says its normal. He never tells me what my numbers are & I have not seen an Endocronolgist since my surgery.

Here's what has been going on recently:

July-'09 I started experiencing anxiety attacks while driving.

After trying Paxil & Celexa( I  had some bad side effects,so I began taking

Amitrytaline(30mg). I stayed on it for less than a year. I hated the side effects: dry mouth and weight gain. I was weaned off and felt fine

with no meds. :-)

Jan.'11-Then this past Jan, I started  to have strange & painful

pains all over( mostly in the chest and back but also in my arms &

legs.)My GP first dignosed it as Costochondrits( which I've had 2x before) and was told to take Ibruprophen.

But when the other pains started, he reddignosed it as Fibro.

he then put me back on the Amitryptaline. Oh , I also have been experiencing palpations for the last 2 months as well that my GP feels is nothing to worry about. confused I also get this thing I call "Red Ears".

Out of the blue, my ears get very red and warm to the touch. My doc has no explanation for it.

After reading several posts,  I am wondering if I should seek out an endochonologist to see if any of my problems could be related to my thyroid (or should I say lack of it) problem.

Any thoughts??

Seeing your Endo Dr can't hurt. But you may want to see a Rhym also, they are the ones who know about Fibro.
I also am having problems with my thyroid after being hypo for 10 yrs. So far noone knows why yet.
Hope you find the cause of your troubles soon.
