I had an ultrasound of my thyroid, the results are: The right lobe of the thyroid measured 6.4X2.8X1.7 cm. It demonstrates a heterogenous exhotexture and a hyperechoic nodule in the mid pole that measures 1.0X0.8x0.5 cm. The left lobe of the thyroid measures 3.8X1.5X1.5 cm and demonstrates a heterogenous exchotexture without any focal nodules. The isthmus measures 0.8 cm.

I am having some swallowing issues. Not really pain or anything just feels like something is there and I'm constantly clearing my throat. Could that be because the right lobe is so much bigger? I also have pretty much constant ear pain on that side.  Doctor says nothing to worry about, I see an endo in a month. Of course I'm worried about cancer, and it getting bigger. I have been on 3 grains of Naturethroid for a few years now, which according to my doctor is a "handful of thyroid medication".

See if you can speed up the appointment time to see the endo.
The throat clearing and ear pain is probably from the pressure of the thyroid.

Hi Joy, thanks for responding. That's what I thought too about the pressure but my PCP says no. I've been having issues for months with throat clearing, swallowing difficulties, etc. Chalked it up to post nasal drip. I've pretty much been on antibiotics constantly since December for an ear infection that won't go away. Now I think it's not an ear infection but the thyriod.

I called the endo I have the appt. with and they can't get me in any soonner, even with the problems I'm having. I tried calling a few others today but being it's Friday had a hard time getting ahold of anyone. Will try again on Monday. Where I live there aren't many endo's around and it's quite a travel to see one, especially one that takes my insurance. Hoping I can get in sooner.

I had a larger nodule on my left side and two smaller on my right. My first endo didn't want to biopsy it but because it was a solid nodule I knew that it should be. So I had to change endocrinologists and he felt I definately needed a biopsy.

The report came back atypical cells so now I have to have another one the end of this month and if the report is atypical again then he said I will need to have it removed.

Please insist on getting a biopsy. I waited almost a year to get it done and wish I hadn't. It is not cancerous yet but with abnormal cells it certainly could become at some time. I didn't even know I had them until my PCP did an ultrasound randomly on my thyroid.

just wondering what the outcome was? I know this is an old post but I didn't see an updated one for you? Did you have the thyroid removed? Are you OK now?
