Hi,

I'm a 57 years old woman and was diagnosed with high ESR (70-120) since 2005. CRP levels in my hematology tests also showed high values (10). That being said, i never felt abnormal aches, pain or inflammations.

Last year, while doing a mammography, the doctor discovered nodules in my neck and advised further tests. I had samples taken from nodules on my thyroid twice and both tests came back negative (benign nodules).

My question: Are the ESR/CRP (Sed rate) high test results related to the nodules on my thyroid?

Thanks a lot for your replies!

Have you had an ANA test for autoimmune diseases?

Hi!
I have nodules too on my thyroid.I am only 40 and swallowing is uncomfortable,it feels like i have a pill stuck in my throat.
My pcp thought it was my acid reflux.
The nodules were discovered on an ultra sound not by feel or a barium swallow.
did your nodules go away, was it difficult to swallow?
I donot see an E.N.T. until Monday.
I hope he doesn't biopsy.
I don't know how big or small.
i am guessing they are small since my pcp didn't feel them last week although they feel huge when i swallow.

When you had the nodules biopsied did they do it in the hosp or office, was it painful?
I don't know if i have to have it done i am scared to death.

will synthroid shrink the nodules to make it easier to swallow?

Gettysyork-
My wife has had thyroid issues since she was 13. she had half her thyroid removed 6 years ago and recently had more nodules show up in the other half. She has had biopsies on these and we are waiting for the results. Her other nodules were benign.

As for synthroid didn't make any of her nodules shrink, actually she has gotten more while on it and good levels. Since you are having issues with swallowing and you can just barely feel the outside, they are probably growing in wards and causing the swallowing issues. My wife's doctor has told us she recommends surgery if the nodules are affecting swallowing. She had biopsies done a couple weeks ago and she said it wasn't too bad and she hates needles.

Glad you have gotten to the bottom of your swallowing issue.

Take care,
Bill
