Hey, I jumped over here from Bipolar, because I believe that my Lithium has created mild hypothyroidism. I have a couple questions if someone wants to help.
1. Any experience with Lithium to hypothyroidism?
2. Any idea's on how to be a vegetarian and eat for hypothyroidism?
3. Is there one book that was really helpful for you?

Thanks,

I have no experience on lithium but I might be able to help.

I don't know why you think you might be hypothyroid unless you are assuming so because of symptoms. If that is the case it may be a wrong assumption.

If you are a true vegetarian and you are having sluggish symptoms, things like fatigue, lightheadedness, balance issues, fogginess, etc, etc, then the problem can and might be your b-12 levels. Have you had them checked? One of the two most causes of b-12 issues in people is vegetarianism and gastric bypass.

Is this an option that you have looked into? If not, please do so. If your b-12 levels get too low or have been low for too long you can and will experience some really bad symptoms, symptoms that mimick hypothyroidism, fibromyalgia, lupus........

Also, please ask to have your Vitamin D levels checked too, most docs dont normally check it.

I hope this helps. Please, let me know what you find out whether it be that you are hypothyroid or that you are actually b-12 deficient. And, please feel free to ask any more questions that you may have.

I have no symptoms, just the test numbers showed mild hypothyroidism.

I take both a B-12 and a D supplement with directions from my herbalist. I have been a vegetarian since birth, so I have experience dealing with that aspect. But it was a good thought.
Saw Dr. today, she says she would rather have me mentally stable and deal with the other issues that may be caused by meds. Than have me unstable because of too low meds. I quess that make sense, just hate the whole mess.

Thank you again for your input.

I hate the whole mess too. First I was diagnosed with fibro, then iron deficiency, then b-12 deficiency, then the thyroid issue (it is now gone and I am on synthroid) and now I have Rheumatoid Arthritis. This all has come about (one by one) in just the past 4-5 years. So it seemed as though it was one continuous thing after another.

If I didnt have a full time job that I love and if I didnt live with my daughter and 3 wonderful grandbabies I don't know how things would be going for me now. So many times I just wanted to crawl into bed and stay there. I guess a positive attitude and a "keep on keeping on" frame of mind helped.

hope things work out for you. keep me posted
