Hello

My name is Shell and I have been hypo since 2004, I was wondering about something I just started smoking Cigs a couple of months ago and I was only wondering if any have had a problem with being hypo and smoking my neck feels swollen and it is scaring me I have not had it do this before I am quieting smoking and will be talking to my Dr. I am only wondering if any one has had problems with smoking and being hypo. I know my anxiety is a big problem for me and cause my mind to wonder where is shouldn't. And I am working on not letting it, but today when I looked in the mirror and saw what looked like my neck was swollen it got me scared and my mind to run off the deep end. I thank all for letting me ask and I will be calling my Dr tomorrow.

Thank You
Shell

Hi Shell, my name is Thomas. I've been hypothyroid since the start of Dec 2011. Before then I was hyper for 4 months. That's when I stopped smoking ciggerettes. Now don't smoke or drink anymore. None of my family members have a thyroid disorder. Had a radioactive iodine uptake test which shows thyroiditis. Guess I was wondering what was causing you thyroid trouble. Either way smoking may not be best while symptoms are present. Read that ibuprofen or aspirin may help with inflammation, Don't get me wrong I'm not a doctor. But Recently I've been needing one to determine what is causing my Thyroid Disorder. been having difficult sleeping at nights waking up four or five o'clock in the morning with different blood pressure readings during the day. Mine are around 144/89 and 76bpm sometimes much lower. Try going for a walk around park to get some thoughts together. God bless you, hope you start feeling better.

Hello Thomas,

All I can say about my thyroid is that in 2004 when my first son was 4 months old my doctor ran my test and came back telling me I was hypo. I am not sure which one I have been reading and I saw there where a couple for me I do not have a clue. normally I am not bothered by my thyroid, but here this last couple weeks I have been bothered by my anxiety alot and am not sure if it is bothering my thyroid as well

Hey Shell,

My guess would be "No your anxiety doesnt bother thyroid". But Hypo may be causing some signs and symptoms. Please ask an endocrinologist to set a appointment for office visit and keep us posted on how it goes. drink water
