I am on 50 mcg of Levo and I do not have any refills left. I do not have insurance or the money to go to a dr right now. Is there anything over the counter I can take for my thyroid? Someone help me out please.

I don't know of any otc or holistic drugs that will replace a hormone your body is missing. If you can find a sliding-scale clinic to go to for a prescription, I get my levo at Kroger pharmacy for $4 for a month.

Alisha, usually you can get the same $4 drugs at Kroger, Walgreens, CVS and Wal-Mart. Check their web pages to be sure, or just ask the pharmacist.

It might be that the pharmacy would call your old doctor's office for a refill authorization. Mine does that when I run out of refills. They do it even with an out of state doctor.

There are thyroid supplements, but they do not take the place of thyroid replacement meds.

The OTC stuff is expensive-you would probably do better going to a walk in clinic and paying the 4 for the script.
However, in case you want the OTC stuff-The Vitamin Shoppe sells desecrated thyroid. It's hard to take enough pills to get a theraputic dose but the stuff did help me while I was waiting for a diagnosis and treatment.
