I have acid reflux and have had t for many years. My primary care Dr has blamed my issues on anxiety and reflux. I have been tested and tested for both heart and gastrointestinal issues and come back clean every time. Reflux is definitely present, but shouldn't be causing these issues.

Back in March, I started having pain in my throat directly under my Adams apple. . It is not a strep throat type of pain.. Very strange.. Almost feels as if the movements of my throat muscle are the origin of the pain. I also have upper abdominal pain just under my sternum. I have occasional rapid heart beat, palpitations a couple times a day, my eyes feel strained a lot, insomnia at night and complete exhaustion during the day. I really have no issues with weight gaining of losing. I pretty much stay the same. I have developed some pretty annoying anxiety issues. For example if something is to frighten me, I react FAR more than I think it should. Heart pounding being shot at kind of freak out for things like braking abruptly because someone pulled out in front of me in traffic. I drive for a living, so this is something I have dealt with on a daily basis for years. It should not freak me out. In addition, I just get freaked out in situations that I just shouldn't. I enrolled my kids in school last week and about lost my mind.. These are things that I have never done before the last few months..

The throat pain is unbearable at times and it hurt at least a little all the time. I feel like the inside of my throat is swollen and I have difficulty swallowing. I had thyroid blood tests a couple of months ago and they came back normal. I also had a CT of the throat at this time and it too was clear... I doubt seriously that this is my trouble, but I figured, why not ask people who live with these issues... I do have many symptoms of thyroid issues.. Anyone have any ideas of thoughts at all?

One more thing.... I do notice a little more hair loss in the shower than I think is normal. From both my beard and head... Maybe I am just digging for an answer.. I dunno, but had to mention it

Which thyroid tests did you have and what were the exact values? If you don't have a
copy of your lab tests, call the doctor's office and find out what they were. Some
doctors tell you they are normal but there is some disagreement over what is normal.
Also, find out if you have had the thyroid antibody tests, specifically the TPO Ab
(Thyroid peroxidase antibody) and TgAb (Thyroglobulin antibody). Those should tell
you if you have Hashimoto's thyroiditis. You can have normal thyroid tests at times
but still have Hashi's. From what you describe, it could be Hashi's. Do you suffer from
any other autoimmune disease?

Thank You for the welcome... I honestly do not know what the numbers were nor do I know exactly what they tested. I do have an appointment with my ENT on Thursday. His office intends on getting my test results from the hospital prior to my appointment. I do not suffer from any autoimmune diseases. Up until recently, I was convinced that my GERD had just gotten really bad, so hadn't put much thought into thyroid issues... I hope to figure it out soon... I am quite miserable!
