Hello!

I actually "belong" to the Lupus forum, but I was hoping I could reach out to this forum for some advice/assistance re: my thyriod.

On Friday morning, I had a thyroid nodule biopsy. The experience was quite uncomfortable. The doctor performing the biopsy did not give me any numbing agent, and although only four samples were needed, he was unhappy with several "approaches" and ended up sticking me over ten times. What a miserable experience!

It is now Sunday evening, and I am still experiencing what seems like muscular-type pain on the left side of my neck and a great deal of discomfort swallowing. There also seems to be a quarter-size redish/puffy spot adjacent to where I believe the needles were inserted. (I have checked my temperature Saturday and Sunday, and I do *not* have a fever, so at least that's good!)

Is this normal? The doctor lead me believe that any pain/discomfort would be limited to the day of the biopsy, so I am surprised to still be experiencing any side-effects a full two days after the test.

I thank you in advance for your feedback. I am trying to avoid making a trip into the city to see my doctor unless I absolutely have to!

Best regards,

Nina
