After spending months going through gastrointestinal tests because of rapid weight loss, nausea, severe fatigue and many other symptoms, I was told by an endo recently I may have had subacute thyroiditis last summer. No one checked my thyroid back then but my TSH has gone from .02 in Oct to 4.3 in Jan, the T3 & T4's (when checked) where within normal range. Seems like a big jump in just 3 months to me? This doc did no other blood work or tests and pretty much dismissed me then and said to have my thyroid checked again in a year. I got sick in April last year, and although my weight is stable now and my symptoms not as disabling as they were, I'm very underweight and unable to gain (my cholesterol however is going up from eating more fats!), I'm cold, tired, sleeping poorly, having nocturia 2-5 a night, still having palpitations on bad days...I asked him when I'd feel normal and start gaining my weight back if his theory is correct and he said, "maybe this is your new normal." From what I've read it seems like I should be recovered from a bout of subacute thyroiditis by now. My allergist thinks I should get a 2nd endo opinion. I'm wondering, how many doctors did you see and how long did it take for you to get a proper diagnosis? I'm tired of going to doctors, I just want my life back! confused

Bluelilly:
I almost thought I was reading my own post. I too am falling through the medical cracks. I have seen cardiology, GI, Endocrinology, rheumatology, neurology, etc. What are your next steps? New normal, I would not buy into....sounds like a cop out to me.....Check with a nutritionist or wholistic professional to get a second opinion.
