Hi Everyone,
I'm 27 years old, and was recently diagnosed with hypothyroidism. Here are my most current levels:
TSH- 62.68 (Range 0.27-4.20)
THYROXINE - 5.86 (Range 4.60-12.00 ug/dL)
T3 UPTAKE- 0.90 (Range 0.76-1.25)
FREE THYROXINE INDEX- 5.27 (Range 4.40-11.40)
FREE THYROXINE 0.80 (Range 0.93-1.70 ng/dL)
Obviously, my TSH level is really high. In four days it went from 49 to 62. I'm extremely tired, cold, and have experienced some "brain fog" and attention issues recently. I'm currently on 75 mcg of LEVOTHYROXINE SODIUM. Today, was my 9th day of taking it, and honestly I haven't felt too much of a change yet. I read it can take 6 weeks to feel better, is that true? I'm normally a patient/energetic person, but am feeling depressed with all of this new news. I just want to feel "normal" again.
I'm meeting with an endocrinologist on Wednesday. Are there any specific questions I should ask at this meeting? I have met with a reproductive endocrinologist because my husband and I would like to begin trying to conceive soon. She is the one who diagnosed me with hypothyroidism. How long do you think it will take to get my TSH level to a normal range? Any advice you have for me?
Thanks in advance for any help!

Hi,
Your TSH is too high and your FT4 is below range, and both indicate hypothyroidism.
Six weeks is the minimum for the new dose to get it's full potent,it can take much more.
Conceiving while hypO can be difficult and not healthy to the fetus if you succeed.
You might want to ask your doctor to do TGab and TPOab to test if you have Hashimoto's disease, if either is positive then you have it and you will need to do thyroid US to see if you have nodules.
Good luck,
S
