Hi,

I am new here and have been experiencing ongoing health problems. I had a recent comprehensive blood work panel and this is the only thing that came up not normal?

Does anyone know if this is serious? Normal is less than 41IU/mL and my test came back at 55.

Thanks.

Hi,
It is not serious, it indicates that you have Hashimoto's diseaese, it is an autoimmune condition.
Do you have other thyroid related tests to post, such as TSH,FT4 and FT3, also have you been tested for TPOab?
With hashi the body identify the thyroid as foreign and attacks it.
Do you have Hypothyroid symptoms? Based on symptoms and TSH your doctor will consider giving you a thyroid hormone replacement, such as Synthroid, levoxyl,Eltroxin... .

Good luck,
S

Hi and thank you for your reply...all my other tests were normal?  TPOab were normal...my doctor thinks it may be due to inflammation?

Hi,
Just falling within the normal range is not sufficient, your TSH might be high in it's range, the range recommended by AACE is 0.3-3.0 .

TGab can be present with other autoimmune conditions as well.

Hi,
We need to see the reference ranges for those results so that we can see where your results fall in the range.
Do you have any thyroid related symptoms?
Every one is different, with this TSH I'll be hypER, but again, for the majority this TSH is optimal.

I do have symptoms...but I was exposed to a moldy home for a while and that really seemed to hurt me.  I have a lot of digestive symptoms and fatigue.

Thank you for your help.
