Hi, i have been diagnosed on january 2013, on 2012 i was in bad conditiom, witreated with every antidepresant, ribotril almost kill me. On january a pet scan showed distortions in the frontal lobs, my Drs at Houston Methodist started me with IV prednisolone 5 days. I had a terrible effect, feeling i was going to dye, more anxoious, nauseas and no energy at all. On June, 2013, my Per Scan is normal.
I have been since with 1 gram IV once a month, with the same side effects. Dr. Say it is not the prednisolone that gives me those symptoms, i dont understand. My depression and anxiety is what keeps me in panic, actually i am only on 50 of pristiqu, my sd is thinking of giving something else. I have read everything about this illness but dont have seen this anxiety atacks, and depression. I am so obsesive with my been ill, and worry. I am on 75 of eutirox, my TSH is o, but my TPO antibodies are 387 , 417 and dont go down. If someone can helo i will be so thankful, i would be willimg to help antbody.

Hi,
When I read your post I had only one comment, which is, maybe your thyroid is not balanced properly and this combined with the Cortisone what make you anxious and depressed .

A TSH of 0 is considered hyperthyroidism.

Thanks foryour help, my TSH t4 and t3 is ok, only my tpo antibodies are high. I continue with 250 prednisone every three weeks. But I steel very anxious and depressed. It is so difficult to think this is all because Hashimoto, and not a mental condition.
Thank for your help

Hi,
It has been a while since your comment.

Can you post the actual thyroid tests results combined with reference ranges?

TPOab it self does not cause symptoms its the resulting unbalanced thyroid what causes symptoms, however, the presence of TPOab and TGab is what causes HE.

I took Cortisone and my reaction to it was very bad too, and it turned out that I did not need them, while been on Cortisone I found Benzos to be helpful with the Cortisone side effects, especially the anxiety.

I don't know what to comment further, I hope that others here can comment more.

Steroids can definitely change your mood, many people find they are anxious, emotional and irritable when taking it. If this is the case, I would expect the symptoms to be worse for the first week after your infusion and then taper off.

I'm curious about the abnormalities in the PET scan. Have your doctors given you any idea what caused that? It does sound to me as if you have something more than Hashi's going on.

Thanks, my pet scan on june was normal, so that is why doctors are still with the the same treatment. Now only 250 mg. Every three weeks. My tsh0.79, t4 7.4 and t3. 28. I know that antidepresants help but now I am on remeron 30 mg and I feel in space in the mornings , i hpe it will go away as my body get use to it. I still feel i am going crazy and loosing my mind.

Can you please provide the reference ranges for those results?
Are you on any thyroid medication?

I think that your TSH is a little bit low, this means that you are hypERthyroid, if you are taking thyroid meds then your dose need to be reduced a little, if your are not on any thyroid medication then the treatment is different.

Hi,
For how long?

I am no doctor, but I answer according to my own personal experience, I think you need to reduce your dose a little.

As I said in previous comment, your anxiety and depression are a combination of hypER and side effects of the Cortisone, you might want to discuss this seriously with your Endo !
