Hi,

It has recently been discovered that I have some small thyroid nodules (not cysts) about 8-9 mm and adjacent small nodules in the lymph nodes , so I am booked in for FNA of both the thyroid nodule and the lymph glands.  When I first heard about the nodules I was not that worried as the sonographer told me about them, until the Dr contacted me telling me I needed biopsy of both the thyroid and the lymph ASAP, then I got worried.  It is a week away and I cannot help the worry, wish it was earlier.  Dr said not to worry until we know.

Has anyone heard of benign nodules and benign lymph nodules as well?  I am 55 years old, female.

Hi and welcome to the forum,
Most thyroid nodules are benign, in fact many people who have no thyroid problems might have nodules.

Good luck,

I know I would be worried too. These things always provoke anxiety in us.
Try to think logically though, as hard as it might be. The majority of lumps, bumps, nodules, cysts, all manner of "funny things" we OFTEN get, turn out to be benign and no cause for concern.
There REALLY isn't any point worrying, except to make yourself feel awful.
Recently a good friend of mine got SO worried because they picked up a lump in her breast during a routine mammogram. She was literally sick with fear over it and convinced herself that she had breast cancer.
Turned out to be just the way the picture was taken....there wasn't even a lump at all!
Keep yourself BUSY....fill your days with things to do, people to see and try not to over think this during the next week.
