Hello Everyone, I started having thyroid problems during my menopause years 7 years ago. It was fluctuating but staying in the normal range. As of September 2011, I am on 50mcg of daily medication. At one point I was down to 25mcg every other day. Is it possible to get off this medication? Is it permanent once you start?

In most cases it is for life, however some people will have periods of varying lengths of not needing supplementation. It will be important for your thyroid function to be monitored for the rest of your life, even if you do experience a remission. Good luck!

Try cleaning up your immune system-since it's an autoimmune disorder. I tried cold pressed castor oil on my thyroid topically and it reduced my cysts/goiter size. I want to try the compresses over my spleen (which plays important role in maintaining immune functions.) Castor oil is pretty cheap and painless. why not
