I just started my upped prescription of Levothyroxine. I was taking 50 now I'm taking 88mcgs. Last week I started feeling like I have vertigo......It is this crazy dizzy feeling. If I look down the room spins, if I get up to fast I feel like I could fall over......
Has anyone had anything like this? I'm not one to just stop meds but I'm coming darn close. Any imput would be greatly appreciated.

Please call your doctor. This could possibly be from your medications, but could also be from something like an inner ear infection, low blood pressure or other medical problem. Low blood pressure is a frequent offender.

Hello Judy2! Im new in this forum. I am 29 years old. I just want to know if dizziness and general ill- feeling can also be associated as a side-effect of hyperthyoid medication? Im now on 10mg of carbimazole post radioactive iodine. My endocrinologist said that the dose i was given for radio active iodine did not totally ablate or "killed" my thyroid gland so its still producing hormones. However, she said that there might still be a chance that my thyroid hormones can still return to normal level. Im still hoping that I can feel totally normal and well again.

I can say for sure that stopping your meds will make your doctor very unhappy =). I did it anyway, and proceeded to deal with his disapproving look and words. If you do decide to stop taking them at least call the office and leave a message with the nurse. They need to know what you are doing, and levothyroxine is relatively serious medication. I argued that I should be okay with stopping whenever I felt like the symptoms didnt warrant the drugs, because I was on a very low dose for hashimotos. My doctor didnt agree and said either take the medicine as prescribed or dont take it all.. meh.

so.. I'm not taking it.

And strangely enough my levels got better on their own. =)

But I am responsible about it nonetheless and have my levels checked at least every 3 months.
