Hi,

Many years ago I have been diagnosed having Vitiligo and that doctor required blood test for detecting my anti-TPO hormone level and it was 200 (the rage indicates <32) so he continued the investigations finding my TSH, F3, F4 levels and each of them were normal that time. Now, I checked again my blood test and anti-TPO is still high and TSH level has increased being a little bit over the normal value. The doctor decided that I do not take any kind of medication because it's too early and I'm too young. Because 3 years ago I had period issues (dysmenorrhea) they have put me on birth control. 1 year ago I have found out that I may have Lupus and the doctor forbade me taking birth control. Since I have given them up I have experienced some strange hormonal disorders. Every month, exactly 10 days before my period I have a little little bleeding and during the entire period of 10 days I have brown secretions and after these 10 days my period comes up. My periods are every month at 33-34 days. I went to GYN and they explained to me very briefly that it's a hormonal disorder consisting in low progesterone levels in the bleeding period of 10 days. He recommended me birth control for that even if I explained to him I'm no longer allowed to take these pills of my Lupus issues.
Has anyone else experienced such king of problems and how she get rid of them ?
I know it's not a painful disease but it's very uncomfortable bleeding 15 days a month and I have been fighting with that over one year.

Thank you,

Hi,
The first thing you need to do is to get your thyroid testes, TSH, FT3 and FT4, after wards you can know for sure whether your thyroid is functioning properly.

Period issues is a thyroid symptoms, so once you get your thyroid tested you need to see an endocrinologist to balance your thyroid for you, in case this is necessary .

Good luck,

Thank you!
I have my Thyroid tests:
The last time when I did it and I'm saying that because I'm doing my test once every 4-6 months and just TSH is the one that ranging. Sometimes it's normal other times just a little bit over the maximum.

T3 -normal
T4 - normal
TSH - 5.9 (<4.6)

I'm so disappointed because these doctors refuse to talk each other and each of them treats just his side of medicine :(.

Thank you so much,
Corina
The doctor told me because I have TPO high I'll develop a hypo in time but he prefers to wait before to prescribe some medication.

As you can see, your TSH is high, above range, and that need to be treated, treating hypo is simple, you will be put on one of Levothyroxine medications to bring your high TSH back to normal, some doctors treat hypo only if your TSH is above 10.

You can ask to be referred to an Endocrinologist .

I went to a Endocrinologist. He was the one who thought there is no need for me to take Thyroid medication YET. She asked me to do an ovarian echo and because there were ovarian cysts she told me to take birth control. I explained to her that I'm not allowed by my rheumatologist (because of Lupus) but she insisted that that is the only option and there won't be no harm for Lupus. She insisted explaining to me that my bleeding problem is a GYN problem and no Thyroid issue.
I'm from Europe but I have been living in Texas for 1 year and half. Maybe I have to write here to find a good doctor in the area were I live now. Do you think that is better to go to a family doctor and asked him to guide me to a Endocrinologist or GYN doctor ?

We are not doctors here, only fellow patients .

The one who treats Hypo is called Endo and the one who treats Ovarian Cysts is a GYN, so you might want to ask your family doctor to refer you to another Endo and GYN .

Good luck
