Welcome to HealingWell, Trevor.
For diagnosis of thyroid problems, a full thyroid panel should be done. This would include free T4, T3, TSH and thyroid antibodies. I don't know the Australian system, but here in the US the doctor will give you a copy of the lab results if you request them. These should show your daughter's levels as well as a reference range. If you can post these here, our members may be able to help interpret them in light of their own experience.
I don't know your daughter's age or what other medications she might be on, but it sounds as if you're considering possible depression as a cause for her symptoms. This indeed could be true.
I hate to mention this and don't wish to offend (again, I don't know your daughter), but in some cases these symptoms can be caused by drug abuse. If you think this is a possibility, testing for opiates and other depressant drugs could sort it out for you.
I hope you're able to find an answer and that she is soon on the way to being her old self again.
