Hello ,
Trevor from Australia. I'd like to say I've got a thyroid problem. I've got alot of the symptoms but levels are okay and no antibodies, I'm very worried about my daughter though. 6 months ago she was an a+ student with a photographic memory, she would wake up 530 every morning to start the day. She self taught herself to play both the piano and the guitar and sings at a performance level. Now she can't get out of bed before 9 can't remember any school work from the previous 6 months, lost 15 kgs, feels cold when its hot [we live in the tropics] fatigued all the time and is too paranoid to go out in public. Cries for no reason and has not gone to school for 2 weeks[never missed a day of school in her life]. Only things Doctors can find is low vit d 50nmol-L ,ANF 1:80. We first went to the doctor because she had head aches because of history they tested her thyroid levels TSH 3.7. There was no feed back only told it was normal. That was done 6 months ago before all the other symptoms started. I'm going to get her levels tested again plus visiting a shrink. Are we on the right track, Any help greatly appreciated

Welcome to HealingWell, Trevor.

For diagnosis of thyroid problems, a full thyroid panel should be done. This would include free T4, T3, TSH and thyroid antibodies. I don't know the Australian system, but here in the US the doctor will give you a copy of the lab results if you request them. These should show your daughter's levels as well as a reference range. If you can post these here, our members may be able to help interpret them in light of their own experience.

I don't know your daughter's age or what other medications she might be on, but it sounds as if you're considering possible depression as a cause for her symptoms. This indeed could be true.

I hate to mention this and don't wish to offend (again, I don't know your daughter), but in some cases these symptoms can be caused by drug abuse. If you think this is a possibility, testing for opiates and other depressant drugs could sort it out for you.

I hope you're able to find an answer and that she is soon on the way to being her old self again.

Yes depression and anxiety for most sit hand and hand with thyroid problems &with you having thyroid problems I would get a second opinion she sounds like me &what Iam going through Iam extremely hypo, with all do respect is there also a possibility something more is going on at school like bullying for one?
Coming up I was bullied very badly &the stress from that would shift my mind to the bullying and nothing else, because I wonder how kids growing up like me could be so evil and cold. At tmes making myself sick to not go to school because the treatment was so harsh &cruel, and I couldn't take it yet alone stand it I speak from experience with hope that things better with your daughter because at 29 I still remember it as if it was yesterday and wish I had /he mind I have now back then because it would've saved me alot of heartache best of luck &I hope she gets better.

Thanks for your help,

I'll get all the tests done tomorrow. You don't have to worry about the other stuff she's only15 and would communicate any problems she has. I too had trouble with bullies not to you extent though . My daughter has always been lucky and always been treated nicely by her peers. That's why we are so worried we have this daughter we are so proud of and we couldn't help her.

Thakyou Judy2 and soulnhealing
we have great news.
after my daughter spent two months away from school she was in such a state couldn't go out in public at all, even when she looked at school stuff she would have an attack, she went to school twice but both times spent the whole day crying. Went to alternative doctor he sujested parasites of the gut . Yeah sure ! Tests came back positive for Dientamoeba fragilis and blastocystis. Went to normal doctor and was told they are just common bugs in our stomach and won't hurt anybody. Went to other doctor he thought other wise and put her on flagy. Within three weeks the anxity had gone . She is still quite fatigued but is getting better. We never knew simple stomach bugs could cause such problems. Thankyou for your support

Hi, Just had Hyperparathyroid-ectomy in August of 2013. I had all of your daughter's symptoms and many more for all my life. Doctor's could not help me at all, they knew nothing and did nothing. I went to 25 different doctor's but no help. So I studied, I read allot for the past 4 years and looked at all of my blood test's and I found a small irregularity. A slight elevated calcium levels and the rest is history.
Please don't give up, read and study and you will find the answers.
Also Candida is real, please give your daughter probiotics made by renew life I had candida and now it is all gone it will take a few month's to get rid of it.

Thankyou Kile,
Yes we hunted and hunted Lovina was only better for a week. Then another month of sickness. Still thought it was parasites. Suggested to try certain type of antihistamine worked fantastically well but only lasted 3 weeks. Another 2 months of sickness tried really strong antibiotics to get rid of bugs . Nothing still sick this is really strong stuff and my daughter was still constipated. So I started looking on the net again.
You ripper After a year of my daughter being sick we finally found out what the problem is. It is called POTS syndrome all her symptoms anxiety chronic fatigue headaches memory loss rise in thyriod levels feeling faint when standing up build up of parasites in the gut intolerance to some foods blotchey skin the whole lot were caused by it. It is really easy to work out if you may it have but doctors rarely pick it up. All you do is sit down and take your pulse Then stand up and take it again if you pulse is roughly 20 to 30 beats more you need to tell a doctor. So if anybody feels like they are 70 years old but are actually younger this may be the disease for you

I'm razin from Bangladesh

i dont know or Maybe I've forgotten to start a proper conversation anymore and right now i aint in my right mind cause the curse has drawn all my physical and mental energy out Thats what I'm about to write the story of my life being so miserable at this stage of life

right now I'm sitting on my bed thinking of my misfortune cause it better to blame my fate at this stage

its been almost a year that I'm sick and this sickness doesnt seem to cure i know its pointless for me to write here as i aint demanding any sort of help of assistance if someone provides I'll be more than happy but its just sharing my story

its a fact that I used to get sick frequent even in the past but i never paid heed but what came to my concern back in last January that its normal i aint what i used to be I've been changed my bodily function aint proper anymore my symptoms started to gather one by one what i haven't done I was pretty sure that i was going to die i was convinced that something was seriously wrong with me i used to cry alone i managed money and rushed to doctors i started having tests but doctors were unable to make a proper diagnosis i was kept untreated it worried me more what I've been through in past 6months will be memorable forever its like living in Hell the immense worry and pain i've been through still haunts me still I'm living wits massive complications and looking forward to find a solution my life is even more miserable as i live in Bangladesh this country is the worst country ever .its so unhyginec and unhealthy what i have investigated by researching the medical forums and pages i may be steering from an auto immune disease most possibly thyroid . My symptoms are given below:

heart palpitation, fluttering , throbbing , ectopic beat strong pulse rapid pulse movement
chest tightness breathing problem (i have asthma since childhood)
chest pain
muscle twitching muscle pain pain everywhere

feeling sore worn out and broken so weak
numbness tingling
headache dizziness
heat intolerance (i cant even tolerate light heat)
chills feeling feverish
temperature imbalance
red eyes watery eyes vision problem cant look at bright light cant look through sunlight
weakness in hands and legs

nausea bowel trouble
excessive gas production
constipation/loose stool

feeling so anxious/nervous/brain foggyNess i Forget everything my memory has gone down too low i used to have very strong memory now i Forget even day to DAY things i Forget normal stuffs normal words i Forget names equations datas infos movies that I've watched i Forget ppl's name their addresses even when we met i Forget i just Forget everythin i cant concentrate i cant pay attention i sweat so much yet i get so cold my hands and feet shake i tremble my forehead gets so hot my hair is falling out i am losing weight i get frequent panic attacks I'm sad depressed and off 24/7 my vision is so poorly i get runny nose sneeze much sometimes in a word my whole body has been working wrong for past 6months althougt it even started earlier now mylife has been so worn out i lost places i got fired up from everywhere my parents my society everywhere I'm now an ****** for being this much sick i wish i could heal i wish i could get back my energy someone help me plz

investigations that I've done with help of some doctors &the knowledge gained by going through lots of web pages medical groups forums journals and many more online stuffs:-

I've ruled out all possible causes and tests

blood tests done including CBC, electrolytes sugar thyroid panel (tsh,tt3,tt4) , billirubin creatinine
x rays of chest sinus and KUB region
ultrasonogram of whole abdomen
urine for re
ECG of heart
ct scan of brain

all the tests came back normal and my restless unstoppable pain and nervousness just stretched ahead

i suspected million times it can caused by thyroid as I've been researching on thyroid disorder for so long all my symptoms just make me remind of thyroid . All my symptoms indicate hyperthyroidism. For instance my tsh has dropped in 2 years total t3 and t4 both r in range though but what I've learned is someone can be hyper even with normal lab results besides that free t3 is the key indicator . But i couldn't get to measure that

my tsh was 2.06 uIU in 2012 and it has been dropped down to 1.1 uIU back in June this year i always have had hyper symptoms from the past i use to sweat way more than other ppl but it never bothered me i thought Thats how my body was but this year all other complications gathered one by one . I suspect i may have an auto immune disorder Thats ruining my life. I'm so down and poorly lately however i managed to lead life before with mild less severe problems but right now its uncontrollable. I have days on which i get my symptoms less tiring i mean some days r lil good some days r worse i get much sleep but yet I'm tired my appetite is not settled sometimes i get so hungry sometimes i starve I'm losing weight lately. My skin is thin dry and so sensitive my whole body is so sensitive I'm sad sick anxious all the time thoughts race throughout my head sometimes i feel like my heads about to explode my vision is so poor i get itchy watery eyes everymorning after i wake up my eyes burn and get irritated easily and stays slight red sometimes i cant focus on a thing my brain is dysfunctioning my head hurts and my body is so weary like if u hit me mildly i feel like I've been hit by a bus or something even when i lay straight it slightly hurt my body aint flexible i cant breathe well after i eat it gets worse anyway in order to keep my writing short i have to stop now i guess

by the way my ESR is slightly elevated.

ESR (in 2012): 5mm (1st hr)
ESR(last June): 21mm (1st hr)
