Hi,

A friend has been diagnosed with Hashimoto's this Wednesday. She has many questions, so I thought I'd ask here.

She has been unwell for many years, having a very bad GP who knew she had thyroid problems but never referred her to a specialist. She finally made an appointment last Wednesday and she was directly admitted at hospital.

When sha asked the dr about Hashimoto's, he told her to google it... Sad but true.

She has a few questions, cause she thinks she had this for quite a while.
She has the google symptoms (mad), but also: severe pain under her breast, like costochondritis. She had a cardiac arrest at age 30, about 10 yrs ago. Reanimated twice. Two leaking valves. Very low heartrate and BP. Her lips, nails and hands turn blue all the time. High cholestorol.
Food intolerances, hardly eats anything, cause almost everything is bothering her. The foods she eats is healthy. Enjuries are healing very slowly
Can anyone tell me if these things could correspond with Hashimoto's?
Any good advice that I can pass to her?

Thank you very much.

Marie, those symptoms don't sound like what we hear from people with Hashi's. If her thyroid has been evaluated by labs (TSH, free T4, T3 and antibody tests if there are any irregularities in the first three tests), then it may be time to think of other possible causes.

Obviously, the chest pain and color changes could be related to the cardiopulmonary system - heart and/or lungs. Slow wound healing is often seen in diabetes. With a poor appetite and low food intake, malnutrition could also be a factor in wound healing.

I don't have Hashi's myself, but hopefully some of our members who do will stop by and give us their ideas also.
