Hi,

I an about to see my GP and wanted some input.

My mother has Hashimoto's Disease. When I complained to her of some symptoms (freezing hands and feet; always cold; losing hair; brittle nails; tired; joint pain; hypoglycemic episodes, and more), she said it reminded her of hypothyroid symptoms.

My Dr agreed to do basic bloodwork (all fine except low Vit D) and also thyroid panel.

TSH: 1.010 (.400-4.500 MIU/L)
Free T4: 0.9 (0.7-2.0 NG/DL)
Free T3: 2.0 (2.6-4.4 PG/ML)

The low Free T3 jumped out at me because it's out of range. But my dr then said that because my TSH is normal, I don't have a thyroid problem.

I am going to ask my new dr to run the same tests. Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance.

This time ask your doctor to include thyroid antibody tests in your testing. Hashi's can produce some odd results, and with your family history I believe it's reasonable to include these tests. Let us know what you find out.
