I am starting to wonder if this anxiety and anger issues and semi state of depression , if I can call it depression has nothing to do with the synthroid I am taking or is my current mental state the way it is just because I am just so ticked off I have this issue with my thyroid period , prior to my doc telling me I was hypo I was a happy camper and I have talked to about 30 people I know that are on some form of thyroid meds but don't have a single issue they just take the pill and don't give it a second thought and I wonder if any of you have given that any thought , just knowing we have a defect like this has me over the edge and having to be on this stupid medication has me so ticked off

Gibsongal, I think you may have something there. Graves disease didn't affect me that way because in my mind it was treat, pill, done. But when I was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis it was a big deal.

If we've been healthy and are now diagnosed with a disease which will be with us throughout our life, it changes our self-image. We have to grieve for our healthy selves before we can move on. Denial and anger stages can be really prolonged because we also have to give up the belief that we are in control of our lives.

You might want to read Kubler-Ross if you haven't done so, and maybe even consider some grief counseling short term. If you can get pasty it, you will probably be much less bothered by your health issue.
