I would love to hear how being underactive effects you.

I have ulcerative colitis as well and endometriosis. After a day being at work I come home, eat and basically go to lay down as I am so worn out. I get snappy and for basically no reason and just feel blah all the time.

So was wondering how does yours effect you ?

Even with normal thyroid levels, you will likely have decreased energy levels from the UC. They're better now that I'm in remission, but still not at the level I would expect. It is known to be one of the effects of UC.

Have you considered it might be the results of what you are eating. The whole purpose of eating is to get vitamins and minerals in our bodies to make us healthy. Try a diet of raw fruits and vegetables and that might be the answer. Get a doctor to check your vitamin D and iodine levels. Those are two things you may be deficient in.

eat2bwell, this member just posted that (s)he has ulcerative colitis. Do you have any idea what a diet of raw fruit and vegetables would do for her? (S)he would likely end up hospitalized with the side effects of severe bleeding and agonizing pain. Please be careful when you give advice to people with conditions you know nothing about.

I do agree that having vitamin D checked is a good idea, however most doctors know to do this routinely for patients with IBD.

Lack of energy is a known symptom of UC, and if you're flaring especially the exhaustion can be profound. You need the rest to allow your body to repair itself, so limit your exercise to the amount your body tolerates. When you just can't do it, rest.

Sorry if anything I said would make anyone sick. I would hope that each of us are aware of what foods we can tolerate. Most of the vitamins and minerals we need are found in the raw fruits and vegetables. We need these vitamins and minerals to stay healthy. For sure you need to repair the digestive tract. Some people use Probiotics to do this. Each of us must figure out what foods we can tolerate but it is essential we get all the vitamins and minerals which are necessary for good health.
