Hello all. I'm not sure if this is the correct forum for this but, here goes.

My daughter is 32. She gave birth almost 14 years ago to my grandson. Everything was fine. Then, she started to gain weight at an incredible rate. Then, she stopped getting her period. Then, she was diagnosed as type 2 diabetic. Then, her hair started falling out. She was diagnosed with premature ovarian failure. She has been tested for everything under the sun and told that all else is 'normal'. She shows many of the signs for Cushings Syndrome, but so far the tests have been negative. She had an m.r.i. done of her cervical spine which showed a nodule on her thyroid gland. She had an ultrasound done and now she is scheduled to have a biopsy done next month. Any feedback from those of you that have been dealing with any of these issues would be greatly appreciated. I post in other forums here and have found them very helpful so, I thank you all in advance.

Some of those issues can accompany hypothyroidism, but they are all classical for PCOS. Just to be sure, she could ask her doctor about thyroid testing results. Thyroid nodules can cause hypothyroidism, hyperthyroidism, but most of them are benign and don't cause problems.

Pitmom,

I am no expert on PCOS, however, many of the symptoms you described can be due to Hashimoto's Hypothyroidism - thyroid controls so much. It is not a death sentence.

Nodules can be removed and be completely benign. Don't panic. I removed Gluten from my diet and my nodules have shown no change in over two years. Hashimoto's is a bit different than standard Hypothyroidism.....inflammatory auto immune condition. Read up on it, maybe it will ring a bell- try removing Gluten from the diet as well.

Once you find out what "it" is and then your daughter will be able to take the correct steps to make any needed adjustments in diet, lifestyle etc.
