I've been taking synthroid in varying doses (.125mg-ish) for over 15 years.

Now the last bottle of pills I got from the pharmacy came with a sticker on it that says "do not take iron, calcium or multivitamins within 4 hours of this medication."

Does anyone know why they put this sticker on the bottle? It's the first time I've seen it, and I for the most part always take a multivitamin soon after my synthroid, and my diet it high in iron and I've never had any issues. So what the heck?

??

They put it on for legal reasons. I wouldnt change the way youre taking your meds if it works for you. Their statement on the bottle relates to absorption issues, which hasnt changed. Your doctor should have informed you of the proper way to take your med, but again since it seems to work for you id not change a thing. No worries.

As Trader said, those particular substances can interfere with proper absorption. The new sticker is similar to McDonald's having to put a warning not I've on their coffee about the beverage being hot. Some people truly do not put two and two together, and some doctors are bot as diligent about patient education as they should be. If you're curious, you can always try taking your multivitamin at lunch or supper, just to see if it makes a difference for you.
