I have been diagnosed with hyperthyroidism and Hashimoto's disease. I have been given Methimazole, 10 mg daily. For you guys who are familiar with this drug, any problems? I start it tomorrow.

I also have a couple of nodules, one to be biopsied in 4 weeks.....I am assuming no probs from this. Will I feel anything? Doctor seems to not be concerned which is calming for me.

I have a similar diagnosis with no symptoms so mine is sub-clinical hyperthyroidism. My story with lab results is in the thread named Nodules and Low TSH. It's near the top of the 2nd page now.

I started on Methimazole (substituted for Tapazole) in June with 5 mg daily. During that month I felt more tired than normal. My TSH changed from .04 to .34 (range .4-4) so this month my doctor said to only take it every other day and I have felt more normal. I will have labs again in 2 weeks and hope to see it's still improving.

Biopsy of my nodules was done several months ago. I do remember thinking if this were my first medical procedure I would have been very scared. I had to be quite still while the doctor worked on my throat. It was uncomfortable but not any great pain.

My nodules were found as an incidental finding on a cervical MRI.

Hope you feel better soon!

Abilene, thanks for responding. I read your previous post and it was helpful. Hopefully no problems will develop with the Tapazol. My main symptoms have been hand tremors, night sweats insomnia and weight loss. None of it has been extremely bad; in fact the weight loss was a real plus...just hope not to gain it back!

Like you the 2 nodules were found prior to a cardiac ablation this summer when the radiologist had to go down my esophagus to check for clots...I would have never known. I thought most of my tiredness, etc was from AFib when in fact, the thyroid was worsening that problem.

I am from Texas, too!

Well, isn't that interesting. We have a lot in common. I'm in DFW now, bet you can guess where I grew up.

When my doctor asked if I had lost weight, I had to laugh. I would be very glad to lose some and not gain it back, but that has not happened.
