Does anyone take cytomel along with their synthroid? What dose do you take of each?

I tried desiccated thyroid and it didn't agree with me.

What does your TSH levels show ?

I once have been told by my Endo that all the big studies show that the addition of T3 medication to L-T4 does not help, that said, some people say that they feel better on it !

NDT is not approved by the american FDA, moreover , the ratio of T3 to T4 in pigs differs from that in human bodies .

Best ,

When I took T3, I lost weight, even thought my TSH was like 8! I think you have to take T4 to affect your TSH.  I NEVER lose weight on T4 alone even when my TSH is 0.117 and I am running too high! I also liked it because I slept  better when I was on it. It gets in and out of your system quickly. Currently, I am running too high but would like a lower dose of T4 with some added T3. I am on 125 mcg. now. On 137, I was 0.117.... I felt ok during the day but couldn't sleep at night, got restless. THen, I have to take something to help me sleep, which makes me sleepy in the day, so it is a viscous cycle. I have other health issues but the thyroid is a real pain in the neck.

No wonder , since you was hyper !

Yes , t3 is a fast acting, its half life time is few hours, so that many on it split it into two doses, one to be taken with the Levo in the morning and the other early afternoon .

I hope it will work for you , but being on only T4 is much more convenient .

Best,
