I am new to the forum so I will start with a brief history.
8 years ago I was diagnosed with Grave's disease. Of course that was after several trips to ER with a heart rate of 120 bpm at rest, just to be told I was drug seeking, and my demanding a local doctor do something. Though unfortunate for my two older sisters being diagnosed with Hoshimoto's, it was a heads up for me.My antibodies were over 300. I went into remission about 3 years ago. I believe I came out of remission about a year ago. I finally made it in to my Endo last Wednesday. She was booked solid. She decided to check my antibodies for Hoshimoto's because I was 20 pounds heavier the last time I saw her, when I went into remission.ya, I don't get it either. lol I got the call today. BOOM! I have Hoshimoto's. So, now I have Grave's disease AND Hoshimoto's. I am totally beside myself. I asked the doc, "Now what do I do, take Methimazole until I bottom out and then you give me sinthroid?" she said "yep". pfft! I know both diseases. I have researched, and researched some more. I also know one disease isn't gona take second to the other. But what I don't know is how bad they will clash. Currently, the Grave's is active. I should say prominent because the Hoshimoto's is not dormant. Does anyone else have both of these diseases? How bad is the fight between these two for control?
