Hello Everyone. I am so glad I found this site. Recently during a routine physical I pointed out to my doctor I had a hard ball under the left side of my chin.  She sent me to have an ultrasound of the lymph nodes and thyroid gland.  According to my ultrasound report, the following was found - 2 cm nodule within the left portion of the thyroid gland with calcification and internal color flow.  2 enlarged lymph nodes with a fatty hilum ( I am paraphrasing).  So I was sent to an endocrinologist who performed a FNA. The results from the FNA came back as "not containing enough cells".   I had to repeat the FNA.  While my doctor was performing the FNA she said to her assistant,  "I see why this came back with not enough cells - this nodule is very firm, very firm, I have to be careful not to break the needle and I have to use more suction to pull out the sample.  When I asked her about the significance of the firmness of the nodule - she responded -  This isn't a characteristic I like to see but I have been pleasantly surprised before.  Lets just wait for the results.  Of course I am freaking out.  Additionally, I suffer with the following symptoms:  Persistent runny nose, sometimes when I blow my nose - there is blood ( I talk allergy medication daily to alleviate the congestion and runny nose), I have started having slight pains in my left elbow (at the joint). I have also frequent back pains on the left side in the area of my waist.  I have some shortness of breath(periodically - however, I also have asthma - so I have always chalked this symptom up to asthma.... My voice has also gotten a little bit deeper.  I know I have to wait for the results of the FNA to come back.  However, just posting this to ask if anyone had these similar symptoms and if anyone had a "hard" thyroid nodule that turned out to benign? I guess I am just seeking some encouragement or words of Wisdom. I am not scheduled to see my doctor until Oct 9th and she will not give out results prior to the face to face visit.  Thank you and God Bless.

Hi there, I'm new to this site and came across your post. I'm very interested in knowing how you are doing these days.
I have a nodule on my left thyroid that is a 3.8cm and I'm schedule to have surgery in May for thyroidloboectomy. I also have lupus, sjogrens, Raynauds, meneire disease, Epstein Bar virus among other, I was wondering if you would know if the sjogrens plays a part in this. Thanks in advance 🙂

Whitethunder, the OP has not logged into the forum since the date of this post, so I doubt she will see your query. I hope someone else will be able to respond to you.
