Got results back and yet again doctors says I am normal. But I don't feel normal can someone please help me interrupt these results, really beyond frustrated with these PCPs.

Free T3: 2.4
TgAb: 15
Free T4: 1.17
TPO: 60.9 normal is 35.0 (Red Flag)
T3: 69.00 normal 90.00-200.00 (Red Flag)
TSH: 1.51 normal 0.30-5.10
T4:11
On 137.00 mcg of levothyroxine and doctor says to stay on it.

*Extreme fatigue, everyday throat pain, brain fog, heart palpatations/fast hear beat, dizzy spells, blurred vision, swollen lympnodes for over 6months and no one has ordered a sono. Saying I am normal if so why do I not feel like it?

What are the ranges for FT3 and FT4? Your thyroid antibodies (Tg and TPO) reflect Hashimoto's. Have they told you that?

There could be a few reasons why you still don't feel well:
1. Your labs may be within range, but if they aren't "optimal", then you can still feel sick.
2. Some people don't do well on Levo or Synthroid. I was on Levo, but recently switched over to Armour.
3. Your root cause of Hashi's may need to be determined and that has to be dealt with before you can deal with your thyroid.

I'll post some web sites below that will help you figure out the above. I can't get URLs to hyperlink from my iPad, so I'll tell you the name of the sites to Google:
1. HypothyroidMom - tons of great articles and resources
2. Stop the Thyroid Madness - perfect for "my labs are normal, why don't I feel better?"
3. Izabella Wentz - she has a web site and a book re finding the root cause of Hashi's. She was sick for many, many years until she found her root cause. She's also a pharmacist. If you have swollen lymph nodes, then there is probably an underlying infection that needs to be treated.

Hi Soul ,
I have a question , how long have you been on 137 mcg/day before the labs ?

What is the reference range for the TGab ? your TPOab are elevated which indicate hashimoto's disease .

Since you have hashi , you might need to wait for 12 weeks while on the same dose , six weeks might not be enough time to see the TSH rising again, so if those labs were drawn less than 12 weeks , I would say that you need to remain on the same dose (137 mcg / day) and repeat TSH in 12 weeks .

This is how things work , you can't accelerate it , and if you try you will end up wasting more time, so patience is needed !

Best ,

Been on 137mcg for months now and two and a half months before these labs, what I don't understand with reading up on Hashimoto is I weigh 129 pounds and stand 5'9 so I am small. And use to weigh 145 lost weight in the last few months, I've no thyroid at all and read where people gain/bigger people than me have this. I am totally confused because I would love yo weigh my normal weight again, and just be back healthy so I am looking for a endocrinologist pcp just said lab work is normal and left me on this same dosage of medicine not caring about the red flags.

SoulNHealing, I'm sorry you're going through this. I know how frustrating it can be. Synthetic thyroid meds work for some people, but not all people. Endos tend to be the least sympathetic when it comes to helping people figure out what's best for them. If your endo isn't listening to your concerns, then you need to find another doctor... it doesn't have to be an endo - any doctor who understands thyroid issues.

Unfortunately, many people with thyroid issues have to do the research and take things into their own hands in order to feel better. Constantly increasing meds and ignoring other issues isn't what doctors should be doing.

Best of luck!

Hi Soul ,

Are you on brand name Levo or generic form ? from my own personal experience the formulation of the Levo has a direct impact on how you feel and tolerate the medication .

Your TSH is normal , however , you might repeat TSH test every six weeks.

Ask your Doctor to switch you to a brand name Levo such as Synthroid , Levoxyl and Tirosint .

If you have no gland , then most probably you will need a much higher daily dose.

Best wishes ,

Ms. Hippo is dead on with her advice. Hashi's can swing from hyper to hypo -- back and forth. You do not have to be overweight to be hypo either. Symptoms vary among patients.

You need to research this on your own. Consider researching celiac disease which is another autoimmune disorder that many with Hashi's develop. There is a blood panel (checking for antibodies) that your PCP/GP/ENDO can order. Once you develop one autoimmune disorder, you can develop other ones too. Hard to detemine since you have not listed many symptoms, but I did notice anxiety and weight loss and that is a big symptom for both CD (300 symptoms) and running hyper.

I am on Armour Thyroid and I love it (20 years!). I also have Celiac disease and did not have classic symptoms!
