Hello- I am hoping for some assistance with interpreting recent lab results from labcorp. My doctor hasn't raised any concerns but I have read that my TSH is high and could be cause for concern. Not sure if based on these results I should be concerned and follow up with my doctor? Thanks in advance for any insight!!

TSH: 4.43 uIU/mL range 0.45-4.500
Thyroxine (T4): 9.3 ug/dL range 4.5-12.0
T3 uptake: 25% range 24-39
Free Thyroxine Index: 2.3 range 1.2-4.9
Triiodothyronine (T3): 97 ng/dL range 71-181

For reference:
C reactive protein 0.53 mg/L range 0.00-3.00

Hi ,
Yes indeed , your TSH is high an indicative of hypothyroidism , this is why you need to see an Endocrinologist , high TSH causes the thyroid gland to work overtime and as a result to have hypo symptoms even though your FT4 is normal .

The next step is to test for thyroid antibodies , those are antiTPOab and TGab, if either is positive then you have hashimoto's disease.

It would be great also to ask for neck and thyroid ultra sound to see whether you have nodules on your thyroid gland .

Regarding the treatment , you should be put on Thyroid hormone replacement like Synthroid , Levoxyl and Tirosint, insist on brand name and not the generic form.

Best wishes ,

Ok thank you for the reply. I will follow up with my doctor on this. Very strange as I feel good...don't really have any symptoms (as far as I know).
