I been doing research online and saw that this can cause issues swallowing. I was just diagnosed via endoscope after blood test for antibodies came back to high(250). Has anyone ever experienced this? I've had serious swallowing issues for months it feels like a choking sensation at the base of my throat, it's very distressing and has made eating a horrible time of the day.

Thanks.

Hi ,
If you have thyroiditis then you need to do thyroid and neck ultra sound to see whether you have goiter or nodules on your thyroid gland that causes your swallowing issue !

Best wishes ,

Sorry I got confused I have so many test going on I was diagnosed on ultra sound and all they found was that my thyroid is inflamed luckily they didn't see anything actually growing on it. I am abit of mess I do have a hiatal hernia, GERD and esophagitis also which of course can all cause swallowing issues. I was just wondering if maybe the inflamed thyroid could be an issue too since PPI's haven't helped with it. I did ask my DR a GP and she said she thinks maybe but was just curious if anyone in this community has this issue as well.

The tight throat feeling is very common when peoples thyroid hormone levels are low. Another common cause is acid reflux.

So you clearly have two reasons for this going on.
