I was diagnosed with Graves Disease this summer. I started on 10mg Tapazol and was decreased to 5mg a month ago. Thyroid readings improving and I am feeling pretty good. Also have 2 benign nodules on thyroid which are ok and have been biopsied. I go to an endocrinologist I trust and have blood work every 4-6 weeks.

My question is doctor has rec that I have RAI because hypo thyroid easier to treat and would require only one tablet daily. I do not want it. I am 65 y.o. relatively healthy female and at this point, being on medicine for hyper is causing no problems. Having bloodwork done so often is a bit of inconvenience but has not been a problem for me. I do have autoimmune hepatitis which has been in remission for years and liver blood readings are done every few weeks as well.

There is a good chance that this Graves may go into remission in 18-24 months..that is one reason I am holding back on RAI. Also, I have read on this board of some folks who have regretted the decision of having RAI. Would appreciate pros and cons from you.
