Well, if you look at my signature line you will see I have been given a new diagnosis. My immune system is attacking my body again. This time it's attacking my thyroid. This is getting to be so tiring. I've got enough to deal with and this comes up. I'm not happy.

Dr. started me out on 25 mcgs of Levothyroxine and more blood work in 6 weeks to see where we're at. Not feeling any difference but I understand it can take up to a month or more before I might see that.

What advice can y'all give me on how to live with this? What do I eat, meds to take, (other than the Levo). Any books, I should read that someone would recommend, etc.

Hi ,
First thing to ask is whether you take generic levo or brand name like Levoxyl, Synthroid and Tirosint?
If you are on generic then I would recommend to switch to brand name this early , of course if your insurance allow, since this will keep your weekly dose consistent .

What was your initial TSH ? 25 mcg per day is only an initial dose , most probably you will need to increase, six weeks is enough time to see the TSH going down , but it can take 12 weeks to see it rising again indicating the need to increase the dose of levo.

Since you have hashi , it is not recommended to consume iodine and sea vegs , also avoid soy, you can google for a list of foods to avoid with hashi .

The Levo you should take first thing in the morning with a full glass of water on an empty stomach and not to eat for an hour, also you should take it at the same time and amount each day .

Best ,
