Hi all, Tommy from Sweden, currently living in Norway..Been suffering from Lyme disease and co-infections since 2007, got diagnosed in 2012. Antibiotics and herbs for 18 months. Stopped early 2015. Felt a lot better, and the last year has been quite ok. Still som neurological symptoms.
I know that Lyme disease (and other infections) can be a trigger for thyroid issues. And for a long time i have been struggling with extreme sleep disorders, weightloss, depression, I get really cold easily (in general, but especially hands and feet), concentration/focus problems, sore throat, hoarse voice, have to clear my throat a lot, IBS/Gluten intolerant, dry skin, loss of energy, heart palpitations and constipation from time to time.
I have never been treated for Thyriod problems. My levels from 2012 is as following:
Was told i was low on Vitamin D, magnesium and Iodine (day and night 0,7, ref > 0,8) Diurese: 1800
Cortisol levels (spit and urine) within normal range.
Anti-TPO: >1300 ref. < 100
S-Anti Thyroglobulin: 1501 ref < 40
S-TSH 5,8 ref. 0,20 - 4,0
S-freeT4: 13,8 ref. 8,0 - 21,0
S-freeT3: 6,7 ref. 3,6 - 8,3
Also some TSH and Anti-TPO tests done with different reference range..Don't know why that is:
S-TSH: 5,74 ref 0,5 - 3,6
S-Anti-TPO: 736 ref. <35
These are all tests from 2012, and private tests. Struggled for the most with Lyme symptoms at this point, didn't even think about thyroid problems.
Sooo..for the last 30 - 40 days the following symptoms have hit me like lightning, getting worse day by day (The previous symptoms above is still present of course):
-Pain in throat, more like the feeling of someone strangling me. This can appear around the thyroid but also other areas of my throat. No visible nodules, no trouble breathing or swallowing.
Jaw pain, pressure in my ears (like sitting on a plane maybe). Heard this maybe can be related to the SCM muscle. Extreme pain/stiffness in my neck, rays up the back og my head and side of my head. Dry mouth, metal taste, chest and stomach pain. I think this is neurological as it is often pins and needles and warm spots kind of feeling.
Same kind of feeling in my legs. Testicular pains, joint pains (worse on my right side), elbow, ancle, knee, hip. Arthritis, extreme finger pains, toe pains (Done uric acid test but haven't got it back yet). As the joints on my fingers are really expanded. Face pain, weak feeling in my right arm, tingling/tickling/numb kind of feeling. Both my arms, but worse in my right arm. At first I thought maybe it could be Carpal tunnel syndrom, as I know this can be related to thyroid illness. But I read that Thyroid and the Median nerve are related, and some people report relief in symptoms when getting treatment. Pains on top of both my hands and wrist pain.
Levels from 2 weeks ago (From my family doctor):
Iodine: day and night 1,2, Diurese: 1900 (No reference here, and no explanation from doctor)
S-TSH: 4,2 ref. 0,20 - 4,0 (were 2,7 in mid 2015 and 5,1 in early 2014)
S-freeT4: 16,9 ref. 11.0 - 23,0
S-freeT3: 5,0 ref. 3,5 - 6,5
S-TRAS: <0,8 ref. < 1,0
S-Anti-TPO: 540 ref. <100
S-Vitamin D: 87 ref. 50 - 150
No cortisol levels at this point.
I will get to see an Endo within the next two weeks. Guess people have different experiences with these doctors, but at least I hope they will do an Ultrasound of my thyroid. Or else I will have to take a private one.
Can all this be related to an untreated thyroid?
Any thoughts on my levels, if this is Hashimoto's or not?
Any other tests I should ask for?
