Hello, I am new to this forum! So I'll jump right in.

Over the weekend, I woke up Saturday with bites all over my face!! horrible. I had thought mosquitos but possible could be bed bugs, even though I have found no evidence of having bed bugs.

So my face is horrible, it itches, it's welped up really bad as I'm allergic to mosquitos and bug bites. Got my ear all blistered up with fluid. And my face was oozing. I had wondered if it was acne but alas, it was NOT.

Saturday night I'm applying my handy dandy cortisone cream and I noticed a lump on my neck on the right side of my thyroid.

Since the bug bites and this lump... I have been "off". I have had severe restlessness almost like anxiety. I cant stop sweating. Literally. As I sit here at work I have sweat on my back and under my arms. And I am now having issues sleeping. I feel like I'm wide awake now for some reason like I drank 40cups of coffee.

Upon research I'm seeing I have some symptoms similar to hyperthyroid disorder.

Do I worry? Do I go get checked? Or is it safe to assume that the allergic reaction to the bug bites caused this?

I'm a bit of a panic bc my half brother (same mom), died from thyroid cancer when he was 38. I'm 39.

thoughts?

Strange thing is, for the past year and a half I had thought I had thyroid issues bc I gained 20lbs, was extremely fatigued all the time and couldn't lose the weight no matter how hard I tried.
now this...

So if one has thyroid issues, can they go back and forth bw hypo and hyper or am I completely a hypochondriac with all this? smile

Get to a doctor and have a complete thyroid panel ordered, including thyroid antibodies. Then have your doctor physically feel your thyroid.

Yes, with autoimmune thyroiditis, you can swing. I do not know if thyroid cancer can cause swings.

Maybe get a lyme test done.

Bug bites, plus symptoms...could be. If you want more information...go over to the Lyme forum.
