I read it shortly after I was diagnosed and didn't know anything about UC... it's okay. I got it from the library, but wouldn't spend any money for it. It has an interesting section on elimination diets, with details on how to re-introduce various foods. I did try eventually try an elimination diet, but differently than she suggested, since I had seen advice on the subject from different people.
She has some ideas on diet and alternative therapies, including the mind-body connection, but nothing I haven't seen elsewhere since, with the exception of some weird enema ideas.
In the end, I think the only thing I got out of it was taking aloe every day, but I would have come across that advice later anyway.
So... it might be worth reading, but not worth buying, at least for me. If you can't find it at your library, then I suggest taking a few minutes at a bookstore to peruse the book, to see if it has anything that interests you.
