Hi All, Gee haven't been on for a while, which was a good thing.  It's nice to know you are all here for someone like me in a time of need.  Here is what's happening:  I had 3 c-scopes in the past 6 months, (no sedation by the way).  Anyway, the first one showed alot of polyps.  The dr. biopsied several and most were nothing to worry about. As my GI said, 'everything was benign.'  I always get copies of my reports, bloodwork,etc... and when I got the path report, it did show 2 adentemous polyps.  I know I didn't spell that right but these are the pre-cancerous ones we need to be concerned with.  She then scheduled a 2nd c-scope to remove as many polyps as possible.  This was about a month or two later.  Well holy cow, she went in with the scope and came right out.  The rectum was so full of sores and mucous, she couldn't find any clean areas and was very concerned.  The nurses told my husband and I that it was definately in the top 10 worse cases they've seen.  The funny thing was I felt okay so the pics tooks me by surprise.  I then went on canasa suppositories and faithfully took my Lialdi.  I went back for another very painful c-scope (won't do that again w/out meds!), and she again biopsied several polyps which came back benign.  I asked her where the pre-cancerous ones were and she didn't know or believed them to be gone.  She said we will keep a close eye on everything.  I am not to go back for a year for another scope but to be honest, I am concerned that these will turn cancerous before then.

I have been having alot of painful gas, muscous and the urge to go frequently. The past 2 days the toilet bowl is filled with bright red blood which concerns me.  No pain. Physically I feel good which I am glad for. I believe that at this point most of the polyps, disease, etc. are within the first several inches of my rectum.   Where does all this gas come from anyway???

I know this is a LONG post, but I wanted to give you as much info as I can.  Does anyone have any suggestions?  (besides the obvious to call my dr:)

Thanks so, so much and I wish everyone a healthy New Year!!!

Is your med list current in your signature? Or are you still on the suppitories? If so, then it would be better to switch back to the enemas. What about a probiotic? Have you tried one yet?

Hi...you can take the canasa supps 3X daily...which considering how much inflammation you have, I would suggest you do.

You could add the enemas...but considering how fragile the rectum is...it can increase the fragility and cause more problems. Has the doctor ever put you on any 5ASA enemas such as Rowasa?

The gas is a symptom of having rectal inflammation...believe it or not.

I second what sherry says, cortifoam for as long as you need it (I've been on it for as long as a yr BEFORE tappering) and probiotics (should help with your gas as gas is often the culprit of bacterial over-growth which us IBDers tend to have).

Maybe even do a liquid diet for a few days then soft food diet inbetween then back to liquid for a few days this could help rest the diseased area and make things a little easier on you.

:)

I think pb4's idea of liquid or low-res is a good idea, to give your body some time to heal.

are you saying you are bleeding right now while on pred??? if that keeps up, you should see your doc again soon, as the pred should stop that pretty soon.

as for the cancer question, I wondering if maybe you shouldn't get a second opinion??? colon cancer is not to be messed with, and it sounds like you know that, so I would take the photos to another GI and hear their thoughts. don't ignore your gut feeling about wanting more clarity around the polyps. that sounds plenty reasonable to me.

I hope you're feeling better soon.
