Can 6mp/Imuran hide infections like Prednisone?

I know that with steroids, it can hide certain symptoms if one is getting sick.  Can an immune suppressor do the same thing?  The reason I ask is because for the past few days I've been waking up with a rattle in my chest but it only lasts until I get moving and occasionally I will have yellow snot when I blow my nose - but that is sporadic too - mostly it's clear.  So I'm not sure if I'm coming down with something or it's my allergies.  Otherwise, I feel ok just a little run down.

I would agree with that (but I'm not a doctor); it lowers our immune system and part of our immune system response to fighting an infection/cold is caughing, sneezing, fever, etc... if your immune system is lowered then your immune response is lowered too.

I do not have allergies since I started 6-mp, no more sneezing, caughing, runny nose and eyes in the Spring and Fall. I think it is because my immune system is lowered.

good question, I would like to know too. I have had a cold now for 2 weeks, just a small cold and it has gotten considerably better. I was waking up really stuffy in my nose and head and congested and a little phlegm. It has mostly gone away. I was worried it might turn into something worse b/c of being on the azathioprine.

I am just getting over a nasty, nasty cold. And though I am not prone to running to the doctor for every little sniffle, I was becoming worried about having this for around five miserable days and not getting better, and being on the Azathioprine.

It seems I am the only one who worries about the Azathioprine. Maybe I don't understand how it works, but it appears to be no big shakes to my doc. Maybe it doesn't make me more prone to get sick, nor does it make me less able to get better. I don't know. I imagined it would, but it doesn't really appear to act that way (in that I really don't get sick more often), nor do my doctor's reactions to my suggesting concern about it enforce that *I* need to be concerned. He almost literally yawns when I suggest it! ~smirk~

This cold was a doozie. I'm still coughing today and have a stuffy nose, a full week since I felt that first scratchy throat. At least four other members of my family that were at my house for Christmas (total of 16) have had it already, and some are just starting down the wretched path today. Very contagious and NOT fun!

I hardly ever get sick now since I started 6mp, maybe a random cold if that. Last year though, I had a cold that turned into bronchitis and by the time I went into the docs for it, it had gotten pretty bad. She put me on antibiotics and inhalers. But she said because I was on 6mp that she didn't want to risk it which is why she put me on antibiotics.
