I know you are are possibly kind of sick of questions about prednisone but my doctors office just called me back and they told me I am going to stop the Entocourt and start 40 mg/day of prednisone and then decrease 5 mg every 5 days. Is this a normal dose or is it high? I'm really worried about taking it. I guess I will try not to eat any processed food or anything high in salt. I can make sure I am exercising every day. One site said to eat food that has alot of potassium which is cool as I just bought some figs at the store today and they have alot.

Does anyone have any other suggestions? I have really been trying to lose weight anyway as I am about 30 lb over what is healthy. I have lost 5 in the last couple of weeks although I suspect it might have more to do with my recent flare. I am scared this is just going to sabotoge all my efforts.

Only thing I can answer is 40mg isn't very high.  I've been on that dose many times, and haven't put much weight on from it.  Maybe 5 lbs or so.  And it doesn't sound like you'll be on it too long, so I wouldn't be too concerned about gaining alot of weight, though everyone is different.

Yes, 40 mg is a fairly common dose. I was on that multiple times, for 3 months or longer. The things to watch for while taking it are increased appetite, moon face, bloating, etc. So, it is definitely a good idea to limit the salt intake. It also had a tendency to mess with my monthly cycle, so I had to go on the birth control pill. I gained 20lb's each time i was on pred, so i know how you feel. Basically, all you can do is eat healthy, exercise, and watch your food intake. Just remember that the side effects will go away after you get off the prednisone.

I don't think 40mg is too high a dose. I have never gained weight while on pred. I actually have the opposite causes me not to eat! I say just follow a healthy diet while you are on it.
