Maybe the medications you are on are causing the lack of sleep. What meds are you on? You should add more information about your medication in your signature. You can do this by going into the control panel then into edit profile then scroll down to signature and add details of date of diagnosis and meds.

Prednisolone or other steroids can cause insomnia...best to take them first thing in the morning (after eating)
37 year old male
Diagnosed ?UC 2003 on hospital admission but found to have campylobacter and treated successfully.
No symptoms until Spring 2006 - treated with prednisolone and mesalazine
2007 - only 2 months in Summer without symptoms, on 2g twice a day of mesalazine, just finishing 10 week course of prednisolone and just starting 6 MP (didn't tolerate azathioprine due to nausea), mesalazine suppositories and prednisolone enemas. Also take probiotics.
Stopped smoking 2005.
Ulcerative procitis is still flared-up.

It's tough when your flares are more active at night to get proper sleep...try chamomile tea, it is great for stomach issues including IBD and IBS and if you drink it at night it will help you sleep. Google chamomile for all the benefits.

I drink it first thing every morning before I even eat anything...it's a natural anti-inflammatory among other things.

My bum is broken....there's a big crack down the middle of it!  LOL  :)
